Weaving lessons can be creative

Weaving lessons can be creative. Just look at this first weaving by Dee. Weaving on her neat little laptop loom (12″Ashford Knitters Loom), she chose Ashford’s Tekapo yarn as the warp and weft. Tekapo is a beautifully bouncy yarn with good stretching properties – just right for the rigid heddle looms which can be warped up in less than an hour. IMG_0826No warping boards or calculations – just get on with it. Absolutely my style. The course was so successful the pupils want to run another asap! Dee created a lovely bag using some of my ‘bits and pieces’  as well as her own stash. Frances put together this little ‘Add-in’ for her and she then warped up a few threads again to weave a close beaten handle. IMG_0849Playing with colours in this way gives me enormous sense of pleasure – the colours sing and I want to sing too: ” Colours of Day, dawn into the mind, the sun has come up, the night is behind, go down to the city, into the street and lets give the message to the people we meet’
