Handspun bag for Joy. Fine spinning and artistic skills were on display at Woolly Day last Saturday. There were so many talents at Woolly day it was mind boggling. Dawn brought her Handspun Bag for Joy Wheel, with lovely square buttons, a real ‘How Did you Do That?’ teaser. It is in Jacob with other fibres…
Ros brought her lovely Dresden Embroidery in Silks from Oliver Twist – I just love Oliver Twist! Svetlana showed us a lovely crochet pullover in alpaca, together with a crochet and knitted owl, doorstop and adorable alpaca dachshund which our young spinner Mary loved, Mary spins on her grandmother’s wheel and brings her own little stool because our chairs are too high for her. We had visiting botanical artists and knitters who made everyone very happy when they said they wanted to become spinners as well! Some people had the baskets they bought at Summer School and Chrissie (also known as Injulabo) was under pressure to bring her lovely African Fair trade baskets and buttons to Woolly Day, not just Summer School. Yvonne volunteered to show us how to knit socks toe up, two at a time – I like this as it will save me doing Kitchener stitch and running out of wool. Woolly Days look like getting more interesting than ever in the coming months…
