Off Piste Spinning class last Tuesday brought out some interesting yarns, Sue did a Shetland on the country spinner, Frances used the Kiwi Superflyer for her Leicester Longwool fleece, I did a demonstration boucle big yarn in merino, silk which was core spun onto woollen rug yarn, then merino silk roving held in place with a final wrapping thread. Each process reverses the twist and balances out the previous twist so that the original rug yarn twist is first twisted tighter, then untwisted in the final stage of wrapping.
Lunch was a delight as usual with lovely berry fruit salad and creme fraiche. Everyone brings something – you never know what will arrive but it always makes a lovely meal. All washed down with a (small) glass of German white. Having a dishwasher and iced water on tap makes for an easy life at Allerton.
