New Sock Yarn

img_1045This new sock yarn is just off my Joy wheel. Know why it is called Joy now. An absolute joy to spin on. This is the singles, it is a mix of hand dyed merino and bamboo, silk, and dyed corriedale. Was spun from rolags and will be plyed with a thinnish polyamide thread which is virtually invisible and looks like singles, but will give strength. I also put some sparkle into it – inspired by the Lang yarn I bought at enormous expense at Woolfest. But it was a lovely yarn and gave me a lot of pleasure knitting socks with it.

I sent the socks to my aunt who was very delighted with them. She came to stay with me in the summer. She is pictured here and you can just see my horse grazing in the background. Aunt is 83, horse is 24 and she retired last month after being in work for 16 years and a brood mare for 4 years before that – a long and fruitful life and now happy out on luscious English pasture.
