I know Making perfect rolags sounds like hard work but I plan to make it fun by mixing in a bit of colour and blending skills in Tints Tones and Shades. So, while you learn to make perfect rolags you will see acid colours change into easy-on-the-eye sophisticated shades and the learning won’t seem like hard work! (I want to insert a lovely picture here from Summer School but can’t do it)
The plan is:
12.00 noon: 45 minute video by Deb Menz – Colour in Yarn design, arrive anytime after 11.30 – enter by side door and go up the stairs as playschool is in the main hall until1.00pm.
1.00pm Lunch in the main hall. Shared lunch is good but you can eat your own if you wish!
2.00pm Tints Tones and Shades: how to alter colours without making mud & how to make perfect rolags – the technique. If you have coloured fibre you don’t like please bring it with you – any fibre, any colour including black – and turn it into something different. You may even like it then!
3,00 Individual work using ideas from Deb Menz Video and the drum carder. There will be two drum carders, hopefully a blending board and plenty of hand carders and fibre to practise with, but please bring your own too as this is a good opportunity to try things out. There will also be coloured and quality fibres for sale, but I’m sure you will have something in stash.
