I don’t know whether I spin to knit, or knit to spin, just love doing woolly things – spinning, knitting, dyeing and creating beautiful yarn. I am a woman with a mission to teach long draw spinning and woolly things and supply Ashford wheels looms, equipment and top quality fibre. My particular passion is long draw spinning, (i.e. spin arms’ lengths’ of thread at a time rather than a few inches). I think life’s too short for anything less than long draw. I am never happier than when helping and inspiring others get the same pleasure from woolly things as I do. One of my greatest joys is seeing someone I have taught as happy and competent in their craft as I am.
Being professionally taught to spin and weave nearly 30 years ago I have been spreading the word ever since. Gaining BSc. Hons. and Diploma in Systems Practice from the Open University in 1999 impacted significantly on my ability to help those who find learning difficult. I started the Guild of Long draw spinners in 2007 and Spinning School in 2010.
I live in Stoke Albany and keep hens and grow fruit and vegetables. I have three children, seven grandchildren and a horse called Nola. Besides my passion for all things woolly, I love horses and music and am a very happy and fulfilled person – but never happier than when sharing my passions with others.
