Spinners and Weavers day of lovely woolliness

13/02/2019 –09:30 - 16:30

Spinners, weavers day of lovely woolliness and make a felt bowl. All you need is a pinny, towel, some bubble wrap and merino or BFL tops in nice colours if you have any – but don’t worry if not as Jackie at Purlwise has kindly offered to bring her stash of lovely coloured tops so you will be spoiled for choice. It might be worth putting a spinning wheel or loom in too in case there is time. We will be in Beeches – take the tradesman’s entrance, first left as you go in for nearby parking. I will be there from 9.30 and if you could let me know if you are coming that would be helpful.

2013 -Dec – pots
Here are bowls made by Jenny and Glenys – as you can see they can be decorated with beads etc (but need to be dry for that)… Don’t worry if you have not done felting before it is much easier than it looks. Inspirational event for everyone from Beginner to Bored and a sure and certain way to be inspired! Includes three course lunch and regular refreshments of all kinds…! spun yarn in my studioWorking at home can’t compete with the buzz of enthusiasm and excitement you get when others affirm your work and share their own successes and failures! We embrace failures and never use them as weapons with which to beat ourselves up; failures show us what to work on and trigger growth and confidence. There is always someone there who is guaranteed to put a positive spin on what you do. Help and new ideas are there for those who want them. There is lots of space to spread out for the whole day. Do some dyeing, warp up a loom, spread out your stuff and appreciate all that lovely woolliness. Everyone makes progress and has a refreshing day out – pick up new ideas, research, learn new skills or make a started on a particular project.
A real treat of a day in a supportive atmosphere with people of lots of ability or very little – doesn’t matter which! The atmosphere it always positive and helpful. A chance to meet others, often with related interests, such as Jacqui from Purlwise the answer to every knitters needs. Or people who keep rare-breeds.Or Jackie whose prize-winning Angora goats keep everyone supplied with the most luscious mohair…
