Dyeing for art yarn

10/11/2015 –11:00 - 17:00

kate-rainbowbamboodottyDyeing for art yarn. Dye your own skeins, balls or yarn, or tops with quick and easy acid dyes and experiment with primary, complementary and analgous colours in the same dye pot. Course  includes 50 gms Mixed merino Tops and use of Ashford, Landscape and World of Wool dyes but please bring your own dye pot if you have one. Buy extra 50 gm dye bags (£2.50) to experiment with on the day or bring your own commercial tops, rovings or skeins to dye using the dyes supplied. No raw fleece or alpaca please. Bring your own dye pot if you have one – or designate an old saucepan or microwaveable container (remember it will not to suitable for food use again).Colour is much more fun when you know how to manage it! Once you understand the behaviour of complementary colours you can begin to use colour in any project not just yarn design and spinning. The skill works when choosing clothes, weaving, knitting, interior design and home furnishing to name a few.  At the workshop you can dye your own handspun yarn in balls or skeins together with a few silk strips, buttons, feathers and oddments and  at a future workshop create your own Art Yarn that will be a good as anything you can buy on Easy.

Shared lunch at 1.00pm – just bring something you like and add to the lunch. Real coffee, tea and cake provided.
