Choosing fleece for handspinning day course at Knuston Hall. See lots of fleece and learn how to pick the best -and what to avoid  – when choosing fleece for handspinning. At this time of year spinners will soon be offered all sorts of newly shorn fleece but sadly the majority of it is totally unsuitable. Spinning straight from fresh fleece – in the grease – is such a joy when you have the right fleece. This workshop will give you the lowdown on how to choose, and what to avoid, along with a memorable checklist based on all your senses except taste of course!  We will also look at alpaca – both suri and huacaya and methods of preparation.

If you have fleece or alpaca then bring feel free to bring it along and we can assess it and hopefully find a use for it. Course includes 3 course lunch, tea coffee, biscuits and cakes…Booking is essential – by phone, email or text 07940839143.A celebration of wool

Some of this Leicester long wool was sensational and some useless for handspinning - but it will make a rug
