Be inspired at Priddy Essentials – if this display of Jane Heynes’ work doesn’t get you weaving nothing will. . It is an amazing voyage of design – all from an innocent looking holiday photograph of a fisherman’s hut in the Scottish Highlands. First the photo, then a sketch, then a colour breakdown – with a little bit of warm orange tossed in for good measure. The criss-crossing of the creel to be picked up in a tabby weave and reflected in a pattern. Fire up a knitters loom and a beautiful length of fabric is born which then somehow morphed into a shoulder bag. The process is all recorded in the lovely project book and is on display in Uppingham High Street for the next two weeks. But don’t go on a Monday – the shop is closed on Mondays – and what’s inside is just too good to miss… Priddy Essentials and Useful Paraphernalia…
